The Human Welfare & Environment Protection Centre (HWEPC) is thrilled to announce the launch of the ‘Harmony Rapti’ project in the Middle Rapti Watershed, situated within the Terai Arc Landscape of Dang. This ambitious initiative, made possible with support from USAID Biodiversity (Jal Jangal), aims to foster biodiversity conservation and promote sustainable practices in one of Nepal’s most ecologically significant regions.
The ‘Harmony Rapti’ project is designed to improve ecosystem health, enhance the livelihoods of local communities, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the Middle Rapti Watershed. By engaging various stakeholders, including indigenous groups, women, and marginalized communities, the project seeks to build a resilient and inclusive approach to environmental stewardship.
Pradeep Majgaiyan, Executive Director of HWEPC, emphasized the project’s importance, stating, “The Middle Rapti Watershed is a critical area for biodiversity, and through this project, we aim to protect its rich natural resources while empowering local communities to take active roles in conservation efforts.”
USAID Nepal’s involvement underscores the project’s alignment with broader efforts to safeguard Nepal’s unique biodiversity and natural heritage. The collaboration with USAID Biodiversity (Jal Jangal) is expected to bring innovative solutions and global expertise to the region, ensuring that the project’s goals are met with lasting impact.
HWEPC is committed to making ‘Harmony Rapti’ a model for sustainable development in Nepal, demonstrating how environmental conservation and community development can go hand in hand. The organization looks forward to working closely with all partners and stakeholders to achieve a thriving and harmonious Rapti Watershed.
